Kinara by Shankar tucker

Download Audio: http://vibedeck.com/theshrutibox/kinara
This song is an original composition combining two of my favorite ragas: Charukeshi and Ahir Bhairav. Many thanks to Mugdha for her beautiful singing and excellent lyrics. Of course thanks to Amit Mishra for his brilliant, supportive tabla playing. Special thanks to Prithvi at Krimson Avenue studios, and to Kartik Shah at Lotus feet studios for the use of their facilities. Also thanks to Tshering for being awesome and holding up her cell phone as a light for our rooftop night shots.

Lyrics:

Gila gila sa
Dhua dhua sa
Khoya hua sa
Behka hua sa
Humsafar se milta yeh kinara, bhiga bhiga
Sagar se gehera yeh kinara

Diwano jaisa chahe wo sagar
sunta hai lehero ki aahatein
sagar ki lehere jaise  baje iktara
sajde mein uske hota hai kinara

sagarkinara jaise kanha aur radha
kanha bin radha kaise jiye
kanha se radha radha se kanha
donno ki preet chamke banke ik tara

Rough Translation:

Soaked, smoky, lost, and intoxicated,
The shore meets his soulmate.
Deeper than the sea itself, is the shore.

He loves sea with passion,
He listens as the sound of the waves
Are drawn from the sea like the string of an Ektaara.
The shore is always there to worship the sea.

The sea and the shore are like lord Krishna and Radha,
How can Krishna live without Radha?
If Krishna is there, Radha will be there.
Their love shines like a star.
