Indus Creed is one of India's oldest, most renowned rock outfits,
starting out as a 5-piece band in 1993 with Uday Benegal as its
frontman. Originally called Rock Machine, the band underwent a major
change in musical style and line-up around the mid-1980s -- with Zubin
Balaporia taking on lead guitar duties -- and the group moved on from
playing covers of popular Western bands to composing original music.
Their first album Rock n Roll Renegade, released in 1988, is hailed as
India's first all-original rock album, and catapulted the band to
instant stardom among rock music fans all over the world. Their
sophomore album The Second Coming contained their most popular song
'Pretty Child' whose video received extensive airtime on MTV India. The
5-piece act then went on to win the MTV Video Music Award and tour
extensively, their most memorable appearance being their performance
alongside legendary guitar player Slash at an MTV India event in
Bangalore. Their MTV Unplugged concert marks their return to the
Indian and international rock 'n' roll scene after a hiatus of almost 14
years. A lot of their songs are off of their latest album Evolve, which
released in early 2012, but if you're a fan, keep an eye out for the
amazing acoustic renditions of their classics 'Trapped', 'Pretty Child'
and 'Bulletproof'.
